The media course was presented by Professor: Hattaf Tarabishi via Zoom (zoom) and live broadcast on YouTube by the ACADEMION International Training Institute.
Editing is the art of selecting and arranging scenes and their duration on the screen so that they transform into a message with a specific meaning, and editing involves cutting and arranging clips or repeating them or deleting them or removing impurities from them or removing parts you do not want in the work.
The trainer began the course by raising the question of what is needed to learn editing? She pointed out that it requires a desire and self-motivation to learn, as well as continuous practice until mastery. The trainer then clarified that before learning editing, one must learn the stages of video preparation and production, including determining and selecting the idea, defining the main goal, identifying the audience and its characteristics, then conducting research and gathering information and writing the script, followed by filming, then commentary and sound selection, and then comes the role of choosing the appropriate software.
The trainer also pointed out the function and role of editing, mentioning the types of videos that include personal, narrative, explanatory, advertising, educational, and animated videos. The trainer also addressed how to choose the appropriate editing software that works to present the video in a good and creative manner, starting with simple programs for beginners and then moving on to professional and powerful programs.
The trainer explained some useful tips for anyone wanting to learn editing in its various forms, stating that those who want to learn editing should start without waiting, and they must continue learning and training to develop and innovate in the field of editing. The trainer emphasized the necessity of direct application and reviewing videos, and it is also important not to rush but rather to climb the ladder step by step.
The trainer mentioned that when editing a specific video, one must learn how to create a transition scene between one video and another. She also highlighted the importance of choosing the appropriate background and matching colors that give an aesthetic impression to the video, thus increasing viewer attraction and admiration. The trainer indicated that the video should be designed in the form of segmented parts to facilitate the process of deletion or modification of those parts, and it is important to choose the appropriate dimensions for platforms like Twitter, Facebook, and WhatsApp. Most importantly, one must have passion and love for the field of video production and editing.
